Drive by or walk by ??? Do you drive by areas and look from the driver's seat for possible detecting spots ? Or do you walk by and look ? My success rate jumped noticeably when I finally parked the car at good looking areas and started walking with detector in hand. You could also leave the detector in the car and take notes for later but I can't wait. If you drive by you have to pay some attention to the traffic and cross walks so your looking time is limited. Walking slows you down and you will be surprised at the small areas you find that you wouldn't see when driving. Also, you will meet people who ask about your machine and may invite you in. Sometimes I work the sidewalk strips to find things while looking for spots.Last year I found a small grass plot beside a laundromat that produced 1 silver quarter, 2 silver dimes and a token good for 10 1/2 cents from a long gone town. Sold it for $125.00. Slow down and smell the flowers, there might be silver/gold under them.
